Surely, you’ve heard of them: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters are some of the most influential people right now. Are they so influential that they would fuel the rise in cosmetic surgeries?
The Continuous Rise of Cosmetic Surgery in America
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons released a statement that cosmetic surgery rose by 115% since 2000. Apart from that, around 17.1 million surgical and minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures have taken place in 2016.
Most of these procedures focused on faces and bodies, with patients undergoing facelifts and body shaping. Nose jobs are also one of the more sought-after procedures; Wise Center for Rhinoplasty shares that a non-surgical rhinoplasty is an option for those who want to enhance the appearance of their nose through dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, BellaFill, and Radiesse.
The popularity of selfies may also be a factor to the increase in cosmetic surgeries, invasive and otherwise.
The Selfie Generation
If you have an Instagram or Snapchat account (or both), then you’re probably familiar with Kylie and Kim. These two are the “biggest influencing power force behind any concept that happens on social media” today.
People emulate their every post. When a new post reveals a new enhancement, it’s only natural for most followers to try and achieve the same look, from plumped lips to bigger breasts.
Whether the Kardashian-Jenner women are driving the surge or not, the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery is still yours to make. Going under the knife is rewarding, but talk over your options with a board-certified surgeon first before making any decision.
