5 Ways to Avoid Having a Venous Disease

Most of us want to be as healthy as we can be. Looking physically good is an essential factor, too, which is why today, we will be discussing how to prevent having or developing some venous occlusive disease.

Venous diseases can affect the veins in your body. It is not just one type of disease – it comprises of different classifications such as spider and varicose veins, blood clots, and venous insufficiency. Although there are certain risk factors for having a venous disease, there are things that you can do to help prevent it.

Avoid Standing Still for Long

Instead of just standing still for long periods of time, you can instead go for short walks. This will help the veins push the blood up in your legs towards your heart, which standing still cannot do. Better yet, you can do some light exercises to keep the blood flowing.

Put your Legs Up

If you do have to stand or walk for a very long time each day, make sure to put your legs up at least thrice a day. Level them to your heart and put them up as much as you can for 15 minutes or so.

Avoid Being Overweight

Being overweight can put too much strain on your legs, which can make them grow spider or varicose veins. Maintain a healthy weight by exercising daily and eating a balanced diet. Incorporate more vegetables and fruits into your daily meals to keep yourself feeling and looking healthy!

Wear Less Tight Clothing

Extremely tight clothes can be uncomfortable and worse, they can cause varicose and spider veins when worn all the time. Make sure to wear less tight clothing and if you have to wear them, then at least minimise the time that you will be wearing them and get them off as soon as you can.


Even just walking, running, or climbing up and down the stairs can help you avoid venous diseases. Get at least 150 minutes of work out per week, and you are all set!
